Child Care Services
An all-day home away from home for flourishing 3 to 5 year olds.
At It Takes A Village, our mission is to uncover the gifts and talents of students so that they can reach their fullest potential.
It Takes A Village Child Care Services was founded in the Western Humboldt Park community in 2004 and began servicing forty-seven at-risk children and their families. In just a short period of time, the staff of ITAV developed a reputation for delivering a high-quality program for parents and families that included relationships with community partners that allowed them to meet
the physical & mental health, educational, employment, housing, and nutritional needs all families served. We strive to foster a love of learning in each student that comes through our educational community. We recognize that each child has unique talents, learning styles and personalities.

ITAV West: Child Care Services
ITAV Child Care Services (ages 3 to 5) is located at 4020 W Division St., on the same block as our Early Learning Center (ages birth to 3) at 4000 W Division St.
The low staff-to-student ratio allows each child’s natural curiosity to direct his or her learning and to shape our curriculum. Our highly qualified teachers (Masters and Bachelor Degrees) and staff are committed to working within each child’s comfort zone to ensure optimal social, emotional and educational results. All staff have received satisfactory background checks, and are certified in Pediatric CPR and First Aid.
It Takes A Village receives supplement funding from the City of Chicago’s Department of Family Support Services (DFSS) to provide all of our preschool-aged programs with high quality early learning experiences. Our Head Start program provides early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive evidence-based child development and family support services to help families prepare their young children under age five for later school success.
ITAV Child Care Services offers the gold standard in early childhood development with an unmatched academic focus. Children are taught early mastery of literacy, mathematics, and critical thinking skills. This includes specialization in early reading and math instruction, as well as The Creative Curriculum and Building Language for Literacy. We ensure that every child enrolled in our program graduates at a level above the current standards for kindergarten entry.
My toddler’s face lights up with excitement every time we are approaching his school. It gives me a great sense of comfort knowing that he is in great hands while I am away from him.
14 years have passed since my story with ITAV began. I am so grateful to the ITAV family for allowing my three daughters and me to be part of their great family. There have been great moments and memories that will always remain in my mind. Thank you ITAV for your support and commitment.
ITAV’s teachers are truly a third parent in raising our kids and an essential part of our family! We not only lean on them for childcare, we turn to them for emotional support as parents, laughs after a stressful day at work, and honest feedback about what our kids need that we might be missing.
After receiving my Childhood Development Associate credential through the Early Childhood Workforce program at ITAV, I realized how much I love learning about children and think I want to pursue getting my Masters in Child Development.
