SOCIAL JUSTICE EDUCATOR COHORT
Social Justice Educator Program
The Social Justice Educator Cohort (SJEC) is a year-long social justice leadership program for educators. This development program will bring together a group of dynamic Chicago educators to collaborate on projects that will advance racial justice in schools.
SJEC Program Goals
• Understanding the ways structural racism shapes education, teaching, and students’ educational experiences.
• Understanding how identity shapes school processes, interactions, and learning.
• Developing pedagogical tools to integrate issues of racial justice in schools and classrooms.
SJEC Participants
• Receive a $2500 honorarium plus extra research funds to support their work in the cohort.
• Attend a 4-day professional learning workshop: Summer Education Workshop (SEW) June 10-13, 2024.
• Participate in monthly workshops throughout the year.
